This is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! She is picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free! All she asks is to link back to her blog :). There is now a full list of the topics to come here.

Most Cringe-Inducing Scene in the Series

Well, Ron having a girlfriend that calls him Won-Won made me cringe, for sure. There was also the dreaded detention with Professor Umbridge. Finding out about Ron's pet rat was shiver-worthy revulsion, but I'll have to go with the moment that made me cringe at first and then fill with rage: McGongall is sucker-hit with four stunning spells.

Umbridge wants Hagrid out of her hair so she takes a team of wizards down to kick him out while the students are doing their astronomy O.W.L.s. Professor McGonagall intervenes on behalf of her friend, and the group of Aurors hits her in the chest with no less than four stunning spells while she doesn't even have a wand in her hand. She's carted off to the hospital wing and not heard from in some time. This cowardice caused not only the characters in the book to cringe, but me as well. Then, I was begging for Umbridge to get what she deserved.

What is the most cringe-inducing scene for you in the series?

  1. Bahahaha Won-Won, yeah that definitely makes me cringe too! Detention with Umbridge and the rat named Peter are seriously good ones too! But omg the moment you picked. THAT should have been in the movies. Just thinking about it upsets me, McGonagall is so fierce and good and seeing her struck down like that...takes my breath away every single time. It was shocking, upsetting and of course, made me hate Umbridge even more! Fantastic pick Jaclyn ^^

  3. It was sooo bad. I also absolutely would have been mortified if my rat turned out that way. Ugh! I really wish this would've been in the movies as well. It was something I wasn't expecting. Like Harry, I thought McGonagall would always be around.

  4. Me too! Incredibly outraged. They definitely wouldn't have gotten the drop on her if she had an inkling they'd react that way.

  5. That was an awful moment! I couldn't believe it when I read it. Umbridge is one of the most horrible characters ever created because of her warped views and ideas and the worst part is that there are such people in real life who get away with all sorts of atrocities they commit.

  6. LOL Yeah, Won Won is definitely cringe inducing. I liked all your picks and they made me giggle, too. I have to tell you that just last night, Jax was asking if he could go check the mail. I said sure, why? He said 'because I'm gonna be 12 on Sunday and I haven't gotten my invitation to Hogwarts yet!' LOL

Sorry I've not been around lately. I've been in Texas taking care of my grandma. I'm playing catch up now. :)

  7. Won-Won! :D Ew indeed :D
Oh pool McG! I totally forgot about that moment! Thatwas really absolutely vile. Not to mention she's an elderly woman! She sure pushed 70 at the time of Harry's schooling, I'm certain. :L Love her to pieces :D

  8. Ugh, Ron and Lavender were quite unbearable, and I felt really, really bad for Hermione. Everything Umbridge did in Order of the Phoenix made me cringe, and I think she was even worse when she reappeared in Deathly Hallows!

  9. Right! So old it's just WRONG. She's strict and serious, but I just love her too :D

  10. Me too. The whole Ron and Lavender thing just drove me crazy, but I'm pretty sure it was supposed to. Umbridge was so easy to hate. She's unbelievably cringe-inducing.

  12. You're so right! She's so terrible, but that is the worst part...that there are actually people like her out there in the world.
