Harry Potter Moment of the Week [49]

This is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! She is picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free! All she asks is to link back to her blog :). There is now a full list of the topics to come here.

 Scariest Moment in the Series

The scariest moment for me would be when Harry was in the cave with Dumbledore. You could tell the whole time going out there that Dumbledore was scared and whatever scared him, scares me.

The whole build-up to the moment of Dumbledore suffering from the Drink of Despair was chilling, but when Harry puts that Goblet in the lake and the Inferius rise to action, things got intense. Here he was, terrified that Dumbledore was dying, already broken down, when these re-animated dead bodies start rising out of the lake. They very nearly drag Harry down, drowning him. Thankfully, Dumbledore got a surge of energy enough to catch the whole lot of them on fire, or they both would've been goners.

What was the scariest moment in the series in your opinion?

  2. Yeah, seeing Dumbledore weak and human was really a definite moment for me. You want to keep him larger than life and invincible in your mind, so when even he is afraid, it absolutely rattles you. I definitely considered this, but went with a different moment for my HP MOTW.

  3. This was one of my picks, too. To see Dumbledore so weak was heartbreaking. I could barely watch the movie when Harry got so close to the water and the Inferi just started swarming. I still get really creeped out by the cave scenes.

  4. That was a freaky part! But Spiders freak my out more, mine is the spiders in book two!

  5. Oh the spiders! I skip those parts in the books and movies. I had already used them twice for other questions so thought I would go with something else LOL.

This was super creepy because it was so calm and quiet I just knew there's gonna be something bad in the end that will either kill them or something else. I sort of expected something either form the water or the ceiling, but wasn't half as scared as at the ministry in book 5 because that was more mentally straining me.

  7. It's so spine-chilling. Partly for me because we had no clue what they would do, and also because Dumbledore was scared and then taken out of action. I was biting my nails during that scene.

  8. I really believe that's why this moment hit me harder than others. I always assumed Dumbledore would come to the rescue, but seeing him broken was horrible.

  9. Definitely! It was so scary for him being isolated so far from others, Dumbledore apparently out of commission, and all these creatures dragging him down into the lake to drown. I was creeped out!

  10. It really was! It was so hard to see Dumbledore broken and Harry not knowing what to do to help.

  11. I think this one was worse for me because Harry didn't have any help. He was, at least as we though, alone with tons of the creatures trying to pull him down into the lake. Dumbledore was passed out and Harry was lost not knowing what to do to help him. He wasn't in the right mind to figure out a way out of it. That's what impacted me most in this scene. The ministry was a lot of back and forth, and with Bellatrix there was horrible as well, but I had more hope for him because so many others were around.

  12. ugh, yes, Dumbledore being worried=not good lol. I think the spiders and also the snake in book 2...*shudder* that would prob do me in.

  13. When Harry was trapped with Tom Riddle and the basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets! Harry was so young... That was very scary for me. But your moment is good too :P

  15. That was a very scary moment! Great pick :D

  16. I agree! That basilisk was freaky, and he really had no help down there. I wasn't sure how he was going to be able to make it out of that one either.

  17. Yes! Spiders and snakes are awful on their own, but joining them is a recipe for disaster.
