Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week's type
• Share a picture and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment
This week's sidekick type is - Classic:
My choice is Jane Bennett from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin

Quotes (Movies and Books)
"It is very often nothing but our own vanity that deceives us. Women fancy admiration means more than it does."
"He is just what a young man ought to be."
"Oh, Lizzy, if I could but see you happy. If there were such another man for you."
"One of these days, Lizzy, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue."
"You know perfectly well that I do not believe that marriage should be driven by thoughts of money!"
I could never finish reading this book, I still don't feel like going back to it, hopefully soon.
ReplyDeleteI love Jane Bennett. Especially how she was represented in the latest Pride and Prejudice, the one in the pics you have up.
ReplyDeleteHi, I just followed your blog. Here is mine if you want to follow back. http://between-my-lines.blogspot.gr/
ReplyDeleteI also have a poll running on the sidebar. If you want you can vote. :)
I went about it backwards actually. I saw the newest version of the movie because I'm a fan of Kiera Knightley. Once I saw that, I knew that I needed to read the book and it was easy to follow since I had already seen the movie, but the language may have been an issue if I hadn't.
ReplyDeleteMe too :) In modern works, 'the most beautiful' character is often conceited or broken in some way and the hard to connect with person. I love that Jane is the most beautiful inside and out.
ReplyDeleteJane is such a sweet character, and such a loving sister. I love how she always tries to find the good in everyone. I've only caught a snippet here and there of this P & P adaptation; one day I'll have to watch it all the way through, though I am rather attached to the Colin Firth version. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by and following :)
ReplyDeleteShe really is. I'm the same way with this one - I love it so much that I haven't watched the Colin Firth version yet :) Thank you so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! So fun! I really like Jane Bennet as well..do you watch the Lizzie Bennet Diaries..there is a wonderful actress playing Jane in that one!
ReplyDeleteI really love your choice of side kick today! Pride and Prejudice is my absolute favorite book and movie!!! And I think Jane makes the perfect side kick. Loyal, kind and incredibly caring. Her and Elizabeth are like two peas in a pod! :) Great choice!!
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, while I was posting this I had to pop over to Youtube and watch. I love them! I am up to episode 49. I love Jane on there as well :) Thank you so much for stopping by
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I really love her as well. I think Elizabeth and her are a good pair to balance each other out. I appreciate you stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI actually saw the movie and liked it that's why I decided to read the book but I just couldn't finish it, I don't know why
ReplyDeleteOh I completely understand. I never could get through the Fire and Ice series and everyone I know loves that :)
ReplyDeleteYou know I've never read these. Sounds like a great pick. :)
ReplyDeleteReally? I hope you at least see the movie one day. These are some great characters! Thank you so much for stopping by :)
