This week's question is: Confess your blogger sins! Is there anything as a newbie blogger that you’ve done, that as you gained more experience you were like — oops?

Wow I feel like I am still learning a lot every single day. My blog is only 3 months old so I'm always thinking that I could have done things better after I look it over. I tend to be pretty critical though and not necessarily a perfectionist, but always trying to do my personal best. I wish I wouldn't have gone with Disqus comments because I know that I have readers that have a problem leaving a comment sometimes. I am still looking in to solving this and going back to the original comments or hoping Disqus solves the problems with certain browsers. I think I should have started with WordPress instead of Blogger. There are so many things that I could have done differently, but I also have to be proud of what I have accomplished so far and I am still having a lot of fun.

  1. I think your blog is amazing. I can't believe it's only 3 months old! If I go through google chrome I can leave comments. You can suggest that to your blogger buddies who are in the same boat as me. Happy Friday! This is my

    Feature Follow.

  2. You are three times as old as me. :) I worry about the Wordpress vs Blogger decision (I'm on Blogger), but the general consensus seems to be more experienced bloggers use WP while newbies use Blogger. I'm fine with it now, but perhaps I'll change down the road.

All that matters is that you are having fun. Thanks for stopping by my blog. New follower :) Have a good weekend.

  7. I think Blogger is okay for starting out. Wordpress requires you to pay a subscription so if you're not 100% sure you're in this for the long haul, you should stay with Blogger.

  8. New follower. #15 on the FF and following through GFC.

I like blogger so far, but I'm so new and have to learn more that I confess I do not know much. A book review blog seems a bit more work than my personal blog which was on xanga and was more stream of consciousness. I'm still finding my feet and how reviews work for me.

  9. Yeah, Disqus doesn't work on my IE browser so I go to my Chrome browser to leave comments. I think you are doing great for being a relatively new blogger. I wish I started with WordPress as well, and I wish I knew about photos and copyright laws that way I wouldn't have had to go back and change all my photos in old posts.

  10. I am not liking Disqus too. I can't comment on other people's blogs! I hope this one gets thru :)

What's up with the Wordpress-Blogger thing? You're the second person who said that!

Hearing some issues with Disqus lately. I just use Blogger's comment system. I have no tech skills so whatever they have set up works for me!

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  12. Wow, I didn't know it was only 3 months old lol I didn't really go that far I guess, we started around the same time. I still don't see how Disqus is different but I think I figured out how to leave comments from my Nook, I think I left one last time (I don't remember telling me it didn't work the second time) maybe I just didn't do it right the first time. I still feel like I don't really know what I'm doing and that I'm not doing things right. Always looking at the bad things (in me) lol

  13. I'm on Wordpress (the free option) and you're limited with what you can do. I've been going back and forth regarding the domain and going self hosted. It is something I'll do eventually (hopefully in the next month or two). there's nothing wrong with starting out on blogger and then moving. If you've never used wordpress, I suggest getting a free account to play with dashboard that way if you do go self hosted you are familiar with it. :)

I agree with you, I wished I have started with wordpress too because I find it to be more user friendly, but I love your current blog and I love what you accomplished so far! I recently changed my blog's layout and it's good and bad at the same time, I thought of revamping it again (I'm rambling).

Anyways, I love your blog as it is and would be excited to see how your blog would look the next time!

    Old follower ;) Happy Friday!

  15. Blogger used to be quite popular so I too went with Blogger but now I kinda wish I also went with Wordpress, but my blog design is on Blogger and I just recently got it done so don't really want to pay more $ to change :(

Well Jaclyn I think you definitely have a lot to be proud of! Only 3 months wow! I too wish I had started on WordPress, but I had one on WordPress once before and thought I would like Blogger more. Grass is always greener. Keep it up!

  18. I completely agree with you when it comes to Wordpress, and on the comments section. I'm also very new to the "blogging world", so I know how that feels.

  19. I've been blogging for just about a year, and I also feel like there is so much to learn. I still feel like a newbie.

  20. Right...I couldn't handle that added expense right now as it is. Thank you so much for stopping by :D

    ReplyDelete
  21. Exactly...there is a lot more work involved that I think a lot of people don't realize. Thank you so much for stopping by and following! Heading over to check yours out :D

  22. Thank you! I know a lot of people don't know all the ins and outs that are involved in photos on the web...all the licensing and copyright information to read before grabbing one. Thank you so much for stopping by :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. I got your comment! I've been told it works well if you use Google Chrome but for some reason Disqus doesn't do well in Internet Explorer. Wordpress is a lot better for designing and is more flexible in what all you can do with it. Thank you so much for stopping by!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Right! I went with Disqus originally because the flow allows for good conversations on the blog...but I didn't know that some browsers were not supported. Have a wonderful weekend!

  25. We usually are our worst critics aren't we? I hope it does work from your Nook now. Thank you so much for stopping by :D

  26. Yes, that is great advice. I would definitely want to do that first. Thank you so much for stopping by!

  27. Oh thank you so much! Don't worry about rambling...I do it all the time :D Happy Friday! I'm headed over to check out yours and your changed layout...

  28. That makes perfect sense. I love your design so I would definitely be sticking with Blogger :D Thank you so much for stopping by!

  29. I forgot to say Congrats on being featured!! Thank you very much for stopping over :D

  30. That's too true! I'll definitely keep working with what I have and enjoy it :D Thank you very much for stopping by!

  31. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I enjoy chatting books with you so I'm glad you became a part of the blogging world. Thank you so much for stopping by :D

  32. Isn't that great, though? I always think I can get better and learn more so I imagine I will feel much the same way. Thank you so much for stopping by!

  33. We are, it's not always good though. I think I shouldn't move things from my Nook, I deleted a comment last time by mistake.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks :) I was so excited. I'm amazed how many followers I gained this past week. I still haven't been able to respond to all of them lol.

I love comments and read every one of them! Since they are an award in themselves, this is an award-free blog. Thank you though for the consideration!
