Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight
• Share a picture and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
My Sidekick this week is:
Simon from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Simon Lewis has been Clary's best friend in The Mortal Instruments series since the two were six years old. He is in a band that continually changes it's name, is Jewish and also a vegetarian. He will be played in the upcoming movie by Robert Sheehan so I don't have to guess too much what he looks like in my head because they cast spot on by the looks of the picture.
The reason I chose him is because no matter the changes they are thrown into and the turmoil that goes down, Simon remains one of the best people you could have by your side.
“Is this the part where you say if I hurt her, you'll kill me?"
"No" Simon said, "If you hurt Clary she's quite capable of killing you herself. Possibly with a variety of weapons.”
“No. That's Clary; shes's my best friend." Simon pocketed his phone. "And she has a boyfriend. Like, really, really, really has a boyfriend. The nuclear bomb of boyfriends. Trust me on this one.”
“Pretty soon the only people left without a girlfriend will be me and Wendell the school janitor, and he smells like windex."
“Hey," said Jace. who was sitting on an overturned speaker, looking at his cellphone, "do you want to see a photo of Alec and Magnus in Berlin?"
"Not really," said Simon.
"Magnus is wearing lederhosen."
"And yet, still no.”
Who is your SkS?

You can't get a better friend than Simon, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteSo true! Thank you very much for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteOoo, Simon is a great pick. And he really picks up in the series too. :)
ReplyDeleteI think so too. A lot of character growth and development there. Thank you so much!
