Sidekick Showcase [43] - Mischievous

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday, is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on my page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week's topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their's throughout the week as well

September Themes:
September 7th - Spitfire
September 14th - SIDEKICK OF CHOICE (It's my Birthday!!)
September 21st - Love Interest's BFF
September 28th - Mischievous

*I'll have October's list posted very soon*

This week is Mischievous

Adrian picture created by Jaclyn Canada

My choice is Adrian
Persephone's Orchard by Molly Ringle

Adrian is such a fantastic and multi-faceted character. We meet him first as a young man that is a part of kidnapping Sophie, and later we find out that he's tricked her in another very important way. What's so great about this though is that Ringle draws the reader in with this character so much that none of this is really an issue. It's just one of those "Ah, ha ha ha, that Adrian is such a kidder." Those charming people can get away with that, and Adrian is definitely on the charming side. Said to be of olive skin, with black curly hair and dark eyes, he leaps off the page with a sultry and exotic handsomeness. He keeps this air of mischievousness throughout the story, but he is a sincere and kind-hearted guy.

This is what I said about Adrian in my review, "Adrian is such an endearing character with a touch of mischief. He's lonely and he wants his love. He has had a hard life yet he does what he can for others in the one real way that he can."

Quotes:

“Fine, I'm a stalker, FINE.”

“And he had a dog, a nice dog. He couldn’t be too evil or dangerous if he had such a great dog.”

“You’re going to kidnap me again?”
Adrian tried a smile. “No, I’ll ask you if you *want* to be kidnapped again.”

  1. He sounds great. Hmm, mischievous. That's a hard one. No character pops up for me when I think of this word. I almost would say Jenks but not quite.

  3. I haven't even heard of this series before, Jaclyn, but Adrian sounds like a great, and mischievious, character! Excellent choice.
Hope you're doing well! Sorry I've been MIA lately, my classes just started again, and I'm having trouble getting back to 'study-mood' again :)

    Have a fantastic weekend!

  4. Great pick with Adrian! I thought he was kind of sketchy at first and I was nervous about Sophie buying what he was telling her, but you're absolutely right- he pulled it all off with his incredible charm! And I love how you drew him! :D

  6. Oooh, Adrian is a great pick, Jaclyn! I really can't wait to see what mischief he gets into in the next installment. :)

I'm sorry I'm late this week with my SS. I will post it tomorrow. This weekend was my son's birthday and I had family in from Texas AND the girls had a band competition all day Saturday...so it's been a busy few days. And I went radio-silent. LOL Hope your week is off to a great start!

  8. I think you'll really enjoy it when you read it! Man, this week has been WILD so far. Super duper busy and crazy stressful at work. I hope you're having a good week. I'm digging into my neglected emails tomorrow. I'm getting soooo far behind. Think I'm just going to stay shut in this weekend to get caught up on everything. I hope everything's going good with you.

  11. Jenks is pretty mischievous sometimes that's why Rachel thought it was him that changed her ringtone on her phone. I think he's a great choice for this one. Thank you so much for stopping by!
