Sidekick Showcase [87] - Slayer

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday, is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on my page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week's topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their's throughout the week as well

Topic ideas for August:
Artistic, Musical, Twins, Humanitarians, have or should have a motorcycle, Adventurer

My choice is Cole Holland
The White Rabbit Chronicles by Gena Showalter
Cole Holland picture created by Jaclyn Canada

This one is a 'have or should have a motorcycle'. Cole is mysterious when Ali first meets him, but she is inexplicably drawn to him. He's brooding with a bad reputation. He's an incredible fighter, usually armed, and feared by just about everyone.

"Don't look so forlorn. You're making the right decision. Cole once ate a pound of rusty nails and claimed it tasted like unicorn tears mixed with fairy dust. True story. I was there."
Reeve nodded encouragingly. "I wasn't there, but I can believe it. I once saw him body slam a teacher for daring to ask him the meaning of X minus Y."
"He put the guy in the hospital for three months," Poppy said, tapping a fingernail against her chin. "Or was that a student he body slammed for daring to give an answer different than his?"
"Probably both. He's body slammed enough people to start a new country. And there could be a neighboring city for the people he's punched in the throat."

“I can't promise we'll ever use you for a hasty getaway," Cole said, "but with a little work, you might be able to race my grandmother-while she's on her scooter.”

Cole, who had kissed me. Cole, who had refused to discuss it afterwards. Okay, fine. I had refused. Cole, who was driving me flipping crazy.

Kat, who sat beside us, shouted, "Rewind that!" and threw popcorn at the screen. "Mr. Holland's expression was all, like, oh, no, I'm going to need to my balls reattached, and Cole's was all, you're about to lose something else, sucka.”

  5. Yeah Kat is an excellent and funny character. She ribs Cole a lot.

  6. This was an excellent start to a series. I have read the others yet, but really looking forward to getting to them.

  7. Ooh, this is a series I'd love to start, Jaclyn. And now I really want to meet Cole. ;) Man, too many books, too little time...and I finished very few books while on vacation. *sigh*

I like this month's themes...hopefully I can pick a few fab sidekicks this month.

I love comments and read every one of them! Since they are an award in themselves, this is an award-free blog. Thank you though for the consideration!
