When life's kicking your butt, how about a theme song?

My friend Robyn from robgirlbooks tasked us with coming up with a theme song each month, and I love it! Music is a VERY big part of my life. I'm telling you guys, it hurt my heart when I lost my voice and couldn't sing for a couple of days and I realized how bad it really is. I'm seriously singing during the walk from my car to work, in the shower, in the car, and in every store I enter. That doesn't mean I'm fantastic at it either, just that I love music and I love to sing :D Some songs I enjoy for the lyrics, some move me due to the piano or guitar, and some it is the entire package. Yes, I actually cry while listening to certain songs because they have that impact on me (Sarah Mclachlan Angel, anyone?).

My choice for the month of January is:

Zane's choice for January:

  1. I love music.. and seeing music videos. It seems like no one really watches music videos anymore since MTV doesn't show a single one (for real they should change their name) so I am always going to youtube to check them out now). Love this post!

  2. So awesome, Jaclyn! I love that you sing everywhere. I can just see you going about your day singing away. That is the way to live!! I sing too, but only the couple lines I can remember because I'm one of the sad few out there with almost no music memory. Once the song is out of earshot, I can't recreate it on my own. I sure try!

I love your pick and Zane's. Roar is so you!! And Home always makes me believe in love. I added them to the Jan theme song playlist. I smiled the whole way through this post.

  3. I love Roar. So empowering. I am also a singer, though not a very good one. I listen to music all day. But I am a bigger hummer. I am always humming. It drives people crazy.

  4. I really like Katy Perry! I think her music and lyrics are fun!

  5. I'm not a Katy Perry fan, but Roar is growing on me, lol. Someone said on Twitter last night that at one of the Bengals football games at home, they played Roar and the audience booed. I thought that was hilarious they played it but didn't think it should have generated booing. >.<

I love music, too! It was such a cool experience going to Austin City Limits last October. I don't think any concert I go to will live up to that 3 day weekend, lol.

  6. That's so funny! I do the exact same thing. I look up videos on youtube and show Zane old songs he missed out on from the 90s LOL. Sometimes he'll be across the room and one of those 5 second ads will start with music and he'll start tapping his toe and look at me like "is this the song I'm supposed to be listening to because it's not that great".

  7. I still remember the very first songs that I sang the most and the songs that I learned all the words to first. Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye by George Strait was the one that I had all the words down in. I also used to sing at the top of my lungs when "I feel like a natural woman" would come on a commercial when I was young. I'm so glad that you liked our picks :D

  8. I think so too. We were talking about Katy's songs always being fun, but how they've also turned so empowering. Hahaha! Zane hums all the time and I beg him to please sing the song instead of hum so I can at least sing along with him LOL

  9. They are so much fun! The videos are also some of the best that I've watched. Wide Awake is probably my favorite video ever.

  10. That sounds like so much fun!! Who was your favorite band to see? There were a ton there right? Kings of Leon I think which is one that I adore.

I only experienced booing once and it was when I went to go see a Disturbed concert where there were about 7 other bands before they headlined. Seether, Flyleaf, 3 Doors Down, and Buckcherry were some of them. Buckcherry was booed on stage. I thought they put on a great performance, but ya know, I guess you can't please everyone!

  11. LOL I sing all the time, too, Jaclyn! It's always terrible for me when I get a cold because that always leads to laryngitis which means days of no singing. :(

I love your and Zane's choices in songs. I don't know much of Katy Perry's music (I don't listen to the radio) but my youngest daughter introduced me to this song. :) Kind of a female anthem, no? And I fell in love with Phillip Phillips when I first saw him audition on American Idol. (my hubby always makes me watch the first few weeks) His sound is so similar, in my opinion, to Dave Matthews...and you know how I feel about him! ;) Well, he was my pick, after all.

I hope your week has started off well, if cold. I hope the rest of it is great!

  14. There were so many it's hard to pick! The bands I was absolutely ecstatic to see were Passion Pit, Muse, The Cure, and fun. I'm working on writing up posts about that weekend. :) Yeah, Kings of Leon were there, too! And it was so funny because Lionel Ritchie closed out the festival, lol.

I think Roar is a perfect song to play at a Bengals game! Maybe they played it instead of the Touchdown song? LOL

  15. OMG Such great bands! I bet you had a blast. Can't wait to hear more about it. Roar is pretty fantastic for a Bengals game IMO :D

  16. It is such a great anthem :D I think it's pretty awesome that you sing all the time too. I did see Philip Philips on Idol briefly and fell in love with him even though I didn't watch the season. This week is soooo busy!! I hope you are having a good one!

  17. That's tough!! Katy Perry can definitely help. She should have her certification in therapy. So glad that you found me as you got back to blogging :D I really like "Gone, Gone, Gone" too, but my son thought "Home" fit for the anthem this month. Thank you so much for the compliments and following. I look forward to chatting with you!

I love comments and read every one of them! Since they are an award in themselves, this is an award-free blog. Thank you though for the consideration!
