This week's question is: Happy Mother's Day! Who is your favorite mom from fiction?

I know that in a lot of books, parents are absent for the most part so 'adoptive' parents tend to show up instead like Molly Weasley in Harry Potter whom I love. I also really like Rachel Morgan's mom in The Hollows Series. However, my choice for this one will have to be Jocelyn Fairchild from The Mortal Instruments.

She is being played by Lena Headey in the upcoming movie. She was in 300 as Queen Gorgo and also Game of Thrones.

It's really hard for me to say a lot about her character though without being too spoilery so let me just say that she is the just right mother for Clary to grow up the way that she did. She's also able to kick-butt alongside anyone else and turns heads wherever she goes - both from her choices that don't always go with the flow and because she is beautiful. Happy Mother's Day everyone :D

  1. I'm a huge Lena Headey fan (she was also the mom on the Terminator TV show). I haven't read this series, but I think I'm going to go against the grain and watch the movie first. I'm still working on who I want to choose for this week's FF. Happy Mother's Day weekend, Jaclyn. You're an awesome mom!

  2. Hopping through. I like Jocelyn. She sure made a lot of sacrifices for Clary.

  4. Jessica@a GREAT readMay 10, 2013 at 1:11 AM

Mrs. Wealsey is who I went with as well. Lots of absent parents in my books, but Molly was definitely one of the coolest moms ever!

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  5. Mrs. Weasley is one of my all-time favorite fictional moms! It's going to be a bit strange for me seeing Lena Headey as Jocelyn in the CoB movie; in the back of my mind, I'll be thinking, hey, it's Cersei from GoT, and Cersei's parenting skills are a bit, er, lacking, lol.

  7. I've only read City of Bones, but I remember liking Jocelyn's character even though we didn't get to spend a lot of time with her. I hope to get caught up on the series soon so I can learn more about her. Old follower.

  21. Good choice, Jaclyn! I like Jocelyn as well - love the series! I like your mention of Rachel Morgan's mom too - I thought of her. I didn't participate in FF this week because...I'm behind, as you know! ;) But the first mom I thought of was Mrs. Bennett from P&P. Not because she's a good mom, mind you. She just provides lots of comic relief! :)

  22. Wow, this is hard, so many book moms. I don't know the one you picked, yet. But Ron's mom from Harry Potter, just from the movies, seems amazing and perfect! I would have picked her. I'm sure she's even better in the books, I have to read them soon.

  23. I really love Ron's mom too :D She is a fantastic mother not only to her own children but to every child that is around.
