Sidekick Showcase [82] - What a Mentor

Sidekick Showcase, previously known as Sidekick Saturday, is a weekly bookish meme, hosted here by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! I will post my Sidekicks on Saturday, then whichever day during the week that you would like to post yours, you can put your link in on my page. Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in the week's topic
• Share a picture (if you can) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• The day of your post, put your link in below and grab the code for your post so you can see the others that post their's throughout the week as well

I have a few topic ideas for June (Thanks Robyn!):
The month of June is LGBT Pride Month so we can celebrate those characters that we love. Also we have Father's day so we can celebrate dads or characters we think would make good fathers. There are a lot of summer trips taken in June as well so we can pay tribute to those characters we would hate to travel with or just characters that remind us of summer trips for one reason or another.

My choice is Dumbledore
The Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore was always someone that Harry could count on, even if he didn't always understand why he did the things he did. He founded and led the Order of the Phoenix who were opposed to Voldermort and his Death Eaters. He planned and helped Harry with his life overall. Even when Dumbledore wasn't WITH Harry, he still affected his decisions and pointed him in the right directions. Dumbledore is the only wizard that Voldemort ever feared, though I believe he began to fear Harry as well.

Quotes:

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”

“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”

“I DON'T CARE!" Harry yelled at them, snatching up a lunascope and throwing it into the fireplace. "I'VE HAD ENOUGH, I'VE SEEN ENOUGH, I WANT OUT, I WANT IT TO END, I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!"
"You do care," said Dumbledore. He had not flinched or made a single move to stop Harry demolishing his office. His expression was calm, almost detached. "You care so much you feel as though you will bleed to death with the pain of it.”

“You know, Minister, I disagree with Dumbledore on many counts...but you cannot deny he's got style...”

“Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!”

  1. Dumbledore has to be one of the most quotable characters ever- all of his lines are so profound. I wish I had just a teeny bit of his wisdom, because that would make me a very wise person, indeed! :D

  2. He was an awesome mentor. So easy to quote from him too, right?

  4. He thinks things through to a level that I would never be able to get to. I assume he's hard to beat at wizard's chess with always knowing his opponent's next moves. Thanks so much for stopping by :D

  5. The quote in the gif is so you! This is my most favorite series that I haven't read yet. One day and then I'll be emailing you and fangirling like crazy. Or maybe I'll have John and Will do review posts like Zane. I love his reviews. I hope you're having a great weekend, Jaclyn!

  8. Hahaha :D Thanks. I love that one. I really do hope you enjoy this series one day. The books are so great. They are the ones that helped me learn what I look for in a book. I'd sit for hours and read and read because I enjoyed to read, but never really got into the books. I think them doing reviews would be so great!

  9. He always trusted Dumbledore though and I believe deep down that he knew he was always looking out for him and had the answers. Did you enjoy your visit??

  12. I just arrived yesterday. And it was rainy and 66 in Amarillo! (I have to fly into Amarillo because I can't get a direct flight into Lubbock) It's sunny today though. Two of my nephews are here at my parents', so I'm enjoying seeing them. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays on the cooler side. :)

  13. *smacks forehead* Why didn't I think of Dumbledore?!? Yep, he's awesomesauce, Jaclyn. Harry couldn't have asked for a better mentor. Dumbledore had so much to impart to Harry - not that Harry always listened. ;) But I guess it all did eventually sink in. Great pick! And I'm sorry I'm late linking...story of my life lately. :) Hope your weekend was great and that your week is going well so far. I'm heading to Texas tomorrow to visit my family. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the heat! ;)

I love comments and read every one of them! Since they are an award in themselves, this is an award-free blog. Thank you though for the consideration!
