Harry Potter Moment of the Week [63]

This is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts and Lunar Rainbows. The idea is to share a favorite moment, magical item, character, spell, quote, object from the books, films or J.K.Rowling herself! Click the links to the blogs to see how to join up &  upcoming topics.

Character you wish you'd invented

I've talked a lot about the different favorite characters I have in this series and why they are so wonderful. When it comes to one that I wish I'd invented though...that's a little different.

My choice is: Dumbledore

Not only is he just amazing, and the best wizard based on pure talent and knowledge, but could you imagine having those words of wisdom in your own head? I mean, Rowling herself is Dumbledore. She came up with all the brilliant quotes that he's given credit for.

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."

"Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it."

"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."

"It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be."

"It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."

"People find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right."

"You think the dead we loved truly ever leave us? You think we don't recall them more clearly in times of great trouble?"

"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends."

"Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open."

"Numbing the pain for a while will make it worse when you finally feel it."

There are many more gems in his quote line-up, but I'll leave you with those today.

What character do you wish you invented?

  1. I will admit, he is really quotable. I like my Luna though. I want to create a fascinating character like her.

  2. I like Hermione. She's everything an unforgettable female MC should be: smart, loyal, honest and passionate :)

  3. Never thought about her as dumbldedore, but I guess that makes a lot of sense

  4. I chose Dumbledore as well! A lot of my favorite quotes from the series belong to him, and his endless wisdom never ceases to amaze me, no matter how many times I read the books or watch the movies. :D

  5. I'm going with Snape. He was so amazingly complex, and a silent hero all throughout the book. Plus his love for Lily was so immense that he even gave up his life for Harry. And that last scene, when he asked to look into Harry's eyes, oh gosh, I cried buckets!

  8. It's amazing really. I could have gone with basically any character, but they are all so well-rounded and important to the series. She's brilliant!

  9. Exactly! I couldn't even imagine having that kind of wisdom flowing out of me. It's just something I could wish for.

  10. It was so sad! I cried too. He is so complex, you're absolutely right. I am a Snape lover myself. I had read the books while my son was watching the movies and bad-mouthing Snape and I was just thinking to myself, you just wait.

I love comments and read every one of them! Since they are an award in themselves, this is an award-free blog. Thank you though for the consideration!
