Harry Potter Moment of the Week [18]

This is a meme hosted by Uncorked Thoughts. The aim of this meme is to share with fellow bloggers a character, spell, chapter, object or quote from the books/ films/ J. K. Rowling herself or anything Potter related! She is picking a topic within HP for us to focus on each week and then if anyone wants to take part feel free! All she asks is to link back to her blog :). There is now a full list of the topics to come here.

Best Spell

Isn't Bellatrix just creepy? I love it :D

I'm really going to have to go with Apparating for this one. So I'm not a morning person...at all. I need at least one Dr. Pepper before you really want to approach me for the day. I also tend to get behind people who have no idea how to do the speed limit when I'm trying my best to get my son to school and get to work on time. Needless to say, my morning commutes consist of me talking to the people in the cars around me..."Jiminy Cricket!" is my favorite epitaph.  "Did you even SEE the speed limit??" is another common one. "You WOULD pull out RIGHT in front of me" is one guaranteed to get the blood pressure going. Zane likes to remind me, "Mom, they can't hear you." I know that. I really do :) It just makes me feel better to tell them how they should be driving.

I really feel like Apparating would make my life a whole lot less stressful. Just whipping by to where I wanted to go in a matter of seconds. Never worrying about being late anymore, just needing to pack a little pepto in case my stomach gets a bit whoozy. Yes, I'm convinced this one out of all spells if I had to choose one from the Potterverse would be my life-saver.

Don't get me wrong though, I think for Harry his will always be Expelliarmus. In a world where dark magic is flying at you from all angles, and you have a conscience, you need a great defense spell. The fact that this became his 'trademark' spell makes a lot of sense to me.

What spell would you choose as the best spell?

  1. Good choice! I can't pick one because there are a lot of really good books, but your reasoning is very good. I want to be able to fly without an apparatus, though! But there's no spell for that, I think?

  2. I love your PG swearing. If only I could pull that off. I try so hard and then one almost fender bender and the words spill out and the boys scold me the rest of the way. I am not a morning person and my stomach does not like sugar or caffeine before 10am. So I'm unpleasant. If I could wish you magic, I'd wish you this bit of magic. Those dang slow drivers!!

  3. OMG, yes, freaking people and their non-speed limit following. Drives me crazy. I am not a morning person either. But that could be because I get about 3-4 hours of sleep a night.

  4. YES!! I cannot believe I didn't even think of this one. Love all the reasoning for it too. My boyfriend is exactly the same, just a little less polite than what you are ;) haha. Great choice and I ADORE Bellatrix despite her being absolutely insane :)

  5. I am SO not a morning person! I'm also unapproachable first thing in the morning, especially if it's a Monday morning. :D Apparating would be an incredible convenience; I could put the money I'd be saving on gas toward buying books!

  6. It was very hard to choose one, but I just had to go with the one I would probably use the most in my life :D I agree that flying would be wonderful! There's isn't a spell that I know of for that though the Death Eaters did appear to fly around a lot in the last few movies. Thank you so much for stopping by!!

  7. LOL it's just habit. I can't drink coffee at all because my stomach doesn't like it, but I've always been a fan of Dr. Pepper. I do drink water for the rest of the day though, but I have to have that one first thing in the morning. Zane and I just try not to talk a lot in the morning, get in the car and jam on the way to school and work. :D

  8. There's a stretch of road that we ride on every morning that's 50 mph and never fails, the person in front of me doesn't get above 40. I couldn't imagine only 3 - 4 hours of sleep! Kudos to you :D No one would want to speak to me if I went with that little for days in a row LOL

  9. Hahaha! Glad I'm not the only one though. Bellatrix is definitely insane :D Thank you so much for stopping by!

  10. LOL That's hilarious to me. We have a meeting at work every Monday at 8:15 and I think it's a crime. I would be a lot more lively and paying so much more attention if it were later.

I didn't even think about the gas savings! That's so true. Definitely more money for books :D

Apparating is so dead useful! I'd love to be able to do that, I'd sleep in late with morning classes instead of waking at 5.30. :X
And i know this driving routines, I have them too! XD

  12. Helena Bonham Carter just played Bellatrix to perfection. I can't imagine a different actress playing the part with the same effect on the viewers!

I am currently compiling a blog roll by genre, and if you want to be included in it, kindly let me know which genres you review :) The page is on: http://mybookmusings.blogspot.com/p/author-help.html :)

  13. Me either :D She was the absolute best choice.

You can put me down for Paranormal, Urban Fantasy, Dystopia, and I read YA of those genres as well.

I love comments and read every one of them! Since they are an award in themselves, this is an award-free blog. Thank you though for the consideration!
